Beginner Golf Lessons in Perth: Where Should You Start?

You do not need to “get good enough” before having a lesson
A common beginner concern is that they should practise on their own before seeing a golf coach. In reality, starting with a few clear fundamentals can prevent months of confusion and make the game far more enjoyable.
You are not expected to arrive with a golf swing. That is what learning is for.
Start with contact and ball flight
Early golf coaching should make the task understandable. How do you hold the club? How do you stand to the ball? What helps the club contact the ground and ball in a useful place? What makes the ball start and curve?
You do not need ten technical positions. You need enough structure to begin producing a repeatable strike and understanding what happened when the shot changes.
Learn golf, not just the golf swing
Golf also includes putting, chipping, club selection, basic rules, safety and how to move around a course. A beginner who can hit a perfect seven iron but has no idea what to do from 30 metres is not prepared to play.
I like beginners to understand the game progressively so that getting onto a course feels achievable rather than intimidating.
What equipment do you need?
You do not need a full premium set before your first golf lesson. A small selection of suitable clubs is enough to start. If you are unsure whether your equipment is appropriate, bring what you have and ask before buying more.
The objective at the beginning is to learn skills and discover whether you enjoy the game, not to build the perfect golf bag.
Indoor coaching can make starting easier
Learning indoors at Lights Out Golf in Wangara provides a private, controlled environment where a beginner can focus on the task without worrying about holding up a group on the course or hitting balls in front of a crowded range.
TrackMan can show the ball flight clearly, but I keep the information appropriate to the golfer. Beginners do not need to learn launch-monitor terminology to enjoy their first lesson.
Your first goal should be confidence to participate
For a new golfer, progress might mean making more consistent contact, getting the ball airborne, learning a basic chip and putt, and understanding enough etiquette to join friends for a game.
